Exciting news!  We are collaborating with

novelist, journalist, memoirist, and storytelling mentor TIM LOTT

Join us for an exclusive writing day retreat in Oxfordshire

Friday 25th October 2024

Where: The writer's dream of Oxford, our retreat is hosted in a converted barn surrounded by beautiful gardens. There will be an informal and comfortable area to connect, as well as enough space to spread out and reflect on your own writing.

What to expect: A full day of learning, writing and nourishment set in a charming and relaxing environment. Writing can be a real struggle.  So how can you motivate yourself without falling into the many psychological pitfalls that await you?  Problems of motivation and self-doubt can be just the start of it.  Tim will source his lectures from his time at the Faber Academy on 'The Psychology of Writing' to show you the best way forward.  Also an enthusiast for Zen Buddhism - he has written a book on Eastern Philosophy - he can help you survive the mental challenges of storytelling ordeal.  He will also show you what signposts you should follow when you are lost in the woods of your writing journey - because all writers get lost.

This day retreat will cover both memoir and fiction.  It will concentrate on the emotional journey of being a writer; but also the practical aspects of how to get your ideas on the page; including creating outlines, generating story ideas and understanding story structure and character development.

This day will also be interactive, focusing on the needs and wishes of you, the guest, as well as the agenda set by the teacher.  Bring your problems to the the table and Tim will try and help sort them out.

Tim has written ten novels in multiple genres, a memoir (now a Penguin Modern Classic) and a book about the art of novel writing.  He has won the Whitbread First Novel Award and the PEN Award for Autobiography.
